    Currency traders call it “Jawboning” when a Japanese official makes subtle policy statements to give subtle hints which the market normally reads as an upcoming Central Bank intervention in the USD/Yen exchange rate. Talking it up in the press in this case is no different. Likewise, It’s in Japan’s interest to have a strong Dollar coz their economy is heavily export dependent especially to the US to make their products more competitive vs the Europeans.
